Amarillo BBQ
About us
Gordon Campbell, a Texas native, opened The Amarillo in Omaha, NE, in 1987, making it an iconic, nationally recognized restaurant for over 22 years. During its peak, The Amarillo hosted and catered to entertainment legends like Kenny Chesney, Faith Hill, Garth Brooks, and Brooks and Dunn.
In December 2010, Gordon retired, auctioning off memorabilia, equipment, and the intellectual property, including the cherished name, recipes, procedures, and techniques. Our initial plan was to reopen in Omaha, but life led us to the Pacific Northwest in January 2014. After spending time understanding the region, we chose Monroe's historic Paradise Tavern for its charm and history.
Despite challenges, we redesigned the space, preserving the original bar and adding a separate smokehouse with commercial rotisserie smokers using hickory logs from Texas to replicate The Amarillo's signature flavors.
Our journey continued with a move to Duvall, WA, after the Monroe building was sold and the lease not renewed. What began as an expansion became a relocation to a new, smaller yet vibrant spot on Main Street (HWY 203) and NE Stephens Street in Duvall. We invite you to visit and enjoy the original Amarillo recipes alongside unique new additions. With our proprietary sauces and rubs, we're excited to bring the same great food to a new community. We look forward to welcoming you and sharing the flavors and legacy of The Amarillo.
